With each product distribution, Progress provides a "License Addendum" (Green Sheet) which includes a list of the various Progress products purchased along with each of their corresponding Serial Numbers and Control Codes
. These are the Serial Numbers and Control Codes
that must be used to install the Progress OpenEdge products(s).
If a hard copy was ordered (DVD), then the Serial Numbers and Control Codes
for each ordered product will be shipped with the product. The License Addendum will also be available through the Progress ESD site.
The license addendum is found under the License tab at the top, which is to the right of the Product tab, as seen on the ESD download page for your product. The products listed are only those that have been ordered. If the expected licenses are not available or you have any questions on the products available in your ESD, please contact your Progress Sales Representative:
While downloading the install media at the ESD site, on the product download page
download the License Addendum at the same time. It contains all the serial number and control codes for each of the products you ordered and will be very useful when installing the product licenses.
Since
OpenEdge 10.1C release and above, the information in the
License tab can be used to directly attach the license addendum to the install program, instead of having to enter license codes manually. The license addendum needs to be downloaded from ESD directly in
.htm format.
To download the License Addendum (.htm):
Login to the Electronic Download Center with your ESD credentials:
- Once the OpenEdge product is chosen Select the Version > Platform URL > Accept > License Tab.
- Click on the License Tab.
- Click on the Printer Friendly button (usually located in the upper left of the page).
- When the printer friendly version of the page opens
- Save Link As...page and select Right Mouse click on:
- Change the Save As file type to: "Webpage, HTML only (*.htm, *.html)".
- Save the page as a htm file type in the local download directory.
When installing the downloaded media, point to this file on the "load the License Addendum"
browse.
Those products that you do not wish to install can be removed once the file is loaded. Alternatively refer to Article:
A Serial Numbers and
Control Codes are needed when installing an OpenEdge Evaluation kit, but a License Addendum file is not provided. Evaluation serial number and control codes are displayed at the top of the evaluation download page. Make note of them and enter them manually when they are requested by the OpenEdge installation program. For further details on evaluating OpenEdge, refer to Article:
A Downloadable License Configuration FileIn 2017 the ESD site was enhanced to provide a
Downloadable License Configuration File in response to customer's asking to not have to install when
upgrading existing Evaluation installs to Full licenses or when
updating existing installed licenses.
The ability to create and download a
progress.cfg file has been added to the Customer Self-Service Portal.
You can select the licenses you are looking for from previous orders and combine them together for a particular machine and version combination.
When obtaining the software product installation kits from the Progress Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) system, Customers now have the option of using a self-service portal to generate and download license configuration (.cfg) files based on either:
- A subset of products in a single License Addendum (“green sheet”)
- A combination of products across multiple License Addendums.
A license configuration file can then be added to a previously-installed product image without the need for a re-install. This feature is supported for
OpenEdge 10.2B and later.
The silent installation functionality was further enhanced to use the License Addendum file:
In
OpenEdge 11.4, where the License Addendum file path and Company Name can be used in the response file (silent answer file). For further instruction refer to Article:
Since
OpenEdge 11.6 a customized install bundle can be created. For further information refer to Article:
