Option 1: During the install, all Licenses that do not need to be installed can be removed before proceeding
Alternatively: Since OpenEdge 11.6 a customised install bundle can be created. For further information refer to Article:
Option 2: OpenEdge 11 and later, post Install, specific product licenses can be removed with the License Update utility. For further information refer to Article:
Option 3: Edit the license addendum file with a text editor (for example UltraEdit) to keep only the Serial Numbers and Control Codes of the OpenEdge platform for which the addendum file is needed. Take care when editing the License Addendum file. Opening the License Addendum file with software such as Microsoft Word can change the format of the file, making it unreadable by the installation process.
The cntlnum.
htm extension of the license addendum file can be renamed to another file extension, for example .txt, with only the lines containing
' Serial #: Control#' are really needed by the OpenEdge installer in the license addendum file.
Example :
OE Workgroup RDBMS Serial #:123456789 Rel: Control#:1BCDE 2GHIJ 3KLMOOption 4: Create a new License Configuration File for existing installationsIn 2017 the ESD site was enhanced to provide a
Downloadable License Configuration File in response to customer's asking to not have to install when upgrading existing Evaluation installs to Full licenses or when updating existing installed licenses.
The ability to create and download a progress.cfg file has been added to the Customer Self-Service Portal.
You can select the licenses you are looking for from previous orders and combine them together for a particular machine and version combination.
When obtaining the software product installation kits from the Progress Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) system, customers now have the option of using a self-service portal to generate and download license configuration (.cfg) files based on either a subset of products in a single License Addendum (“green sheet”) or a combination of products across multiple License Addendums.
A license configuration file can then be added to a previously-installed product image without the need for a re-install. This feature is supported for OpenEdge Release 10.2B and later.
