John Picinich (Progress Software) asked a question.
We're excited to announce Progress Automate MFT 1.24, introducing a new Capacity Units consumption model, expanded SFTP capabilities, enhanced file processing options, and improved visibility into file transfer operations. These enhancements provide greater flexibility for managing, securing, and scaling automated file transfer workloads.
What's New in Automate MFT 1.24
- Capacity Units for Unified Usage Management
- Automate MFT now supports a new Capacity Units model that provides a unified way to measure usage across task runs, processed files, and Progress-hosted data transfers. Existing entitlement models remain supported for customers that have not migrated.
- 👉 Why this matters: Simplifies licensing and consumption tracking by providing a single, consistent way to measure platform usage.
- SFTP Endpoints Included for EZ Customers
- SFTP endpoints are now included in the EZ tier for both existing and new customers, allowing customers to create, manage, and use SFTP endpoints without additional licensing requirements.
- 👉 Why this matters: Expands secure file transfer capabilities while reducing licensing complexity and deployment barriers.
- New Convert EOL Processing Step
- A new Convert EOL step enables automatic conversion between CRLF and LF line endings and supports file filtering, large-file processing, and MOVEit Automation imports.
- 👉 Why this matters: Reduces manual file preparation and helps ensure compatibility across Windows and Linux environments.
- Enhanced SFTP Host Key Visibility
- Administrators can now retrieve an SFTP server's host public key directly from the endpoint configuration. Fingerprints and host key details are also surfaced in connection logs and validation errors.
- 👉 Why this matters: Simplifies SFTP onboarding, troubleshooting, and host key validation while strengthening operational security.
- Improved File Activity Reporting
- The File Activity report now supports filtering by one or more file operations, and the same capabilities are available through the File Activity API.
- 👉 Why this matters: Makes it easier to investigate activity, support audits, and gain deeper visibility into file transfer operations.
- Linux Agent Security Improvements
- Linux Agent installation now validates ownership and permissions for installation files and directories, with an option to bypass validation when required.
- 👉 Why this matters: Helps organizations deploy agents more securely and reduce the risk of installation-related misconfigurations.
- Increased Name Length Limits
- The maximum name length is now 200 characters for tasks, endpoints, agents, agent pools, schedules, authentication methods, and tags.
- 👉 Why this matters: Provides greater flexibility for organizations that rely on detailed naming conventions and large-scale automation environments.
- Improved SharePoint and OneDrive Resiliency
- Enhanced detection and retry handling for temporary SharePoint and OneDrive connectivity failures, including transient DNS and Microsoft Graph issues.
- 👉 Why this matters: Improves reliability by helping tasks recover automatically from temporary cloud service disruptions.
Fixes and Other Improvements
Automate MFT 1.24 also includes several reliability and usability improvements across task execution, scripting, permissions management, logging, and endpoint administration.
Highlights include:
- Improved task status handling to ensure task runs retain a single, consistent terminal state.
- Enhanced PowerShell scripting reliability for file operations and ZIP file processing.
- Immediate application of role and policy updates through more consistent permission processing.
- More reliable agent log retrieval with improved handling of OpenSearch initialization scenarios.
- Improved task administration, including correct tracking of Auto Run changes and better endpoint name persistence in task details.
These updates help deliver a more reliable, secure, and scalable managed file transfer experience.
