Friday AI with Phil Banner

  • Nichol Goldstein (Progress)

Awesome seeing everyone! Feel free to rewatch the episode here: https://youtu.be/J80B9OUYGc4

    • AI agents are gaining more autonomy—and that raises new risks. The group discusses always-on AI assistants, agentic systems, privacy, security, and examples of AI behaving beyond its intended boundaries.
    • Human oversight remains critical. Whether AI is classifying information, writing software, or making recommendations, the conversation repeatedly returns to guardrails, traceability, accountability, and keeping humans involved in consequential decisions.
    • Our relationship with AI is becoming surprisingly human. From naming chatbots to AI “coworkers” appearing on org charts, the group explores anthropomorphism, emotional attachment, and how conversational AI can encourage people to keep interacting with it.
    • AI is most valuable when it enhances—not automatically replaces—human work. The hosts share their personal AI “aha” moments, including productivity, project management, creative development, maintaining authentic human connection, and using AI to build the Momo Watch kaiju experience for an upcoming hackathon.
