Progress® MarkLogic® Server 12.1.0 Is Now Available, Featuring AWS Graviton Support

We are excited to announce the general availability of MarkLogic Server 12.1.0, available as of September 10, 2026. This feature and security update to the MarkLogic 12 innovation release introduces native support for AWS Graviton, expands Optic and vector-development capabilities, adds standards-based single sign-on for MarkLogic Server tools, and gives administrators more control over indexing and online configuration changes. Thank you to our customers for the valuable feedback that helped shape this release.

What's New in 12.1.0

A More Efficient Way to Run MarkLogic 12 in AWS

MarkLogic Server 12.1.0 introduces support for AWS Graviton-powered EC2 instances, providing a more efficient, future-ready option for running MarkLogic workloads in AWS. Graviton processors can help organizations improve price performance and reduce total cost of ownership while continuing to use the enterprise-grade capabilities of MarkLogic Server.

MarkLogic Server 12.1.0 provides a dedicated 64-bit Arm package for Amazon Linux 2023 and supported Red Hat Enterprise Linux deployments. This expands deployment flexibility for organizations building or modernizing MarkLogic environments in AWS.

For supported instance types, compatibility information, and migration guidance, see AWS Graviton Support in the MarkLogic Server documentation.

New Optic Capabilities

MarkLogic 12.1.0 adds several capabilities for querying and analyzing data with the Optic API:

• Inline views support ad hoc querying without requiring a Template-Driven Extraction (TDE) template to be configured in advance.

• Parameterized CTS queries support reusable query plans.

• A transitive-closure operator supports traversal of indirect semantic relationships.

Vector Precision Controls

New vector functions create reduced-precision vectors, while TDE vector-precision properties control storage precision and approximate nearest neighbor (ANN) index precision for vector columns. These controls help balance efficiency and numeric precision for vector workloads.

OAuth 2.0 Single Sign-On for MarkLogic Server Interfaces

The Admin Interface, Query Console, Monitoring Dashboard, and Monitoring History can now authenticate users through an OAuth 2.0 authorization server. The implementation uses the Authorization Code flow and supports Proof Key for Code Exchange (PKCE).

Excluded Paths

Administrators can configure XML and JSON paths whose matching content and descendants are omitted from the universal index. Excluding content that does not need to be searched can reduce indexing work, index size, and resource use.

MarkLogic MCP Server Compatibility

MarkLogic 12 is compatible with the new Progress MarkLogic Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server. MarkLogic MCP Server provides a bridge between AI assistants and MarkLogic Server data to support secure, AI-powered conversations, research, and workflows.
