Automate MFT 1.21 Is Here—More Flexible Automation, Simpler Workflows and Enhanced Visibility

We're excited to announce Progress Automate MFT 1.21, introducing new workflow automation capabilities, expanded PowerShell scripting support, and reporting enhancements that make it easier to build, manage, and monitor automated file transfer processes.

What's New in Automate MFT 1.21

  • Repeat Step for Advanced Workflow Automation
    • The new Repeat step allows task steps to execute repeatedly until configured exit conditions are met, including duration limits, iteration counts, or files found. This makes it easier to implement common automation scenarios such as polling for files, trigger-file processing, and continuous collection workflows without relying on complex scripting.
  • Sleep Step for Built-In Workflow Delays
    • The new Sleep step enables administrators to pause task execution for a configurable period directly within a workflow. This provides a simple way to introduce delays between operations without requiring custom PowerShell scripts.
  • Expanded PowerShell Capabilities
    • Automate MFT now supports the Resolve-MftExpression cmdlet, allowing PowerShell scripts to evaluate Automate MFT macro expressions at runtime. This gives administrators additional flexibility when building dynamic automation workflows.
  • Improved Audit Reporting
    • Audit log reporting has been enhanced with easier filter management and simplified report regeneration workflows, helping administrators more efficiently generate and reuse audit reports for troubleshooting, compliance, and operational analysis.
  • Updated SFTP Security Algorithms
    • Automate MFT now includes updates to its underlying SFTP library, expanded support for modern key exchange algorithms, and updated default algorithm preferences to help organizations maintain secure and reliable SFTP connectivity.

Fixes and Other Improvements

Automate MFT 1.21 also includes several reliability and usability improvements across scheduling, task execution, API behavior, file processing, scripting, agent operations, and MOVEit Automation configuration imports, delivering a more consistent and dependable automation experience.
