September Game - VAULT

Hello my lovely Community!

It's not quite September yet, but it's close enough to count! Let's start a new game. It's called VAULT!

HOW TO PLAY:

  • Like this post to follow it
  • I have selected a super-secret, no one must know, 3-digit vault code.
  • You email Community@progress.com with your first guess
  • You'll get five attempts to crack the code to the vault!
  • We're gonna do this a-la Wordle~ I'll respond to your guesses:
    • 🟩 = Correct number, correct position
    • 🟨 = Correct number, wrong position
    • ⬜ = Number isn't in the code
      • So if the code is 472:
      • Guess #1: 2 – 5 – 8 = 🟨 2 ⬜ 5 ⬜ 8
        • Now you know 2 is somewhere in the code, but it isn't first.
      • Guess #2: 4 – 2 – 6 = 🟩 4 🟨 2 ⬜ 6
        • Etc.

CRACK THE VAULT.

HOW TO WIN

  • You earn points when you crack the code, and the point-values change for every guess.
    • Guess 1 = 10 points
    • Guess 2 = 7 points
    • Guess 3 = 5 points
    • Guess 4 = 3 point
    • Guess 5 = 1 point
  • Bonus points for the first person to crack the code! How many, you ask? IT'S A SECRET!

ENJOY

    WE DID ITTTTT! We unlocked the last vault of the month! What did we unveil???

    ~~~~~~
    A Woman Finds Her Own Priceless Personal Valuables In A Safe Her Son Returned To The Store
    A woman had bought a safe to store her valuables, but decided it was too small and that she wanted a bigger one. She told her son this and, trying to be a thoughtful son, he took it back to the store to return it and came back with a bigger and more expensive one for her. At first no one thought anything of it, but then she realized that a diamond ring, a ✨crystal sword✨ that she felt was irreplaceable, and several other valuable items were missing. After a lot of thought, she felt a creeping horror sink in, worried that they had been locked in the returned safe.
    In a frantic panic, she called up the Lowe’s that the safe had been returned to, to see if they possibly somehow still had it. And, with the most incredible luck in the world, it turns out they did – even though it was four months later. Her return was still in a box in the back, but was also the very last copy of that item in the store. If she had waited much longer and someone had wanted that brand of safe, she may never have seen any of those items again.
    ~~~~~~~~~

    You had me at "Crystal Sword"

    See you on Monday for a new game! This one is gonna be interesting!! 👀

    HAPPY FRIDAY!

    For those who haven't finished cracking the code yet today, you have until 12pm eastern (because then I'll be going away for the long American weekend. 😲💗)

    The median amount of guesses needed was 4 guesses - which was right at the limit, so I've made an executive decision to *upgrade* the rules:

    • You now have five guesses
    • Why am I making life hard and making you email me once a day? Piffle, piffle. You can have five guesses in a row - all in one day, spread over days, whenever is convenient for you - but you must get your final guess in by Friday, becauuuuuuuse...we're gonna unlock the vault.

    EACH VAULT will be a true story of something unexpected found in someone's safe.

    Vault #1: A Safe Sent To Be Melted Down For Scrap Was Stuffed With Valuable Gold Coins

    A really nice safe was left with a scrap dealer who was supposed to junk it.

    The scrap dealer had a locksmith friend see it and after he commented on how nice it looked, they decided to open it. Inside, the safe actually had roughly $2.5 million worth of coins, mostly silver coins and krugerrands. The haul was absolutely ridiculous, and they immediately put a new lock on it and turned it over to the police, to make sure the coins ended up with the rightful owner, as $2.5 million is rather a lot of money.

    It turns out that the safe had been in the garage of a deceased family member who had been collecting the coins for many, many years. The family had given the safe to a friend to scrap it, with the intention that they would return anything valuable found inside. It seems the friend just sold the safe straight up without trying to open it, and this is how the confusion occurred.

    In the end, the police did manage to track the family down and return their father’s coin collection to them. 💗💗💗💗💗
