Joan Corea (Customer) asked a question.
Hi Sitefinity team,
We are currently using Sitefinity background tasks for some long-running processes, and we would like to have a way to monitor their status, specifically whether a task is pending, running, completed, or failed.
This is how we currently define and enqueue our background tasks:
SystemManager.BackgroundTasksService.EnqueueTask(task);
Where task is a custom implementation that inherits from IBackgroundTask.
We would like to know if Sitefinity provides any built-in way, maintenance page, API, or other mechanism to view and monitor the status of background tasks that have been queued through
BackgroundTasksService.
If there is currently no built-in maintenance interface for this, is there another recommended way to define or register background tasks in Sitefinity that would allow us to monitor their status through an existing Sitefinity interface or API?
Our main goal is to be able to identify tasks that are pending, currently running, completed, or failed, particularly for long-running operations.
Any guidance or recommended approach would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Get Claude to migrate you to Scheduled Tasks, they also run off thread and HAVE the UI you want (database backed records). Background tasks have none of that.
It’ll swap them out in minutes and you’ll be back up with a UI.
