Ioana Trasca (Wayfare) asked a question.
Hey everyone,
We've been working on a couple of VS Code extensions aimed at OpenEdge ABL developers and wanted to share them with the community. Both are free and available on the VS Code Marketplace. Hopefully they save someone a headache or two.
ABLUnit Runner
If you’re running ABLUnit tests from VS Code, you may have run into limitations with larger or long-running test suites. ABLUnit Runner is designed with that in mind—it executes your tests via a batch script and brings the results back into VS Code’s native Test Results view.
It’s not a replacement for your existing test setup, but it does make running bigger suites from within the editor much more practical.

CrossWayAI
CrossWayAI is aimed at understanding and navigating the codebase, in your current project or in a new one. It visualizes file, module, and symbol dependencies in OpenEdge ABL projects, with optional AI-assisted analysis to help generate and update dependency graphs interactively.
We’ve found it especially useful for onboarding, refactoring, and assessing the impact of changes before making them.

Both are open source on GitHub (wayfarero) if you want to explore the code, suggest improvements, or contribute. Big thanks to our enthusiastic team for driving these forward.
Happy to answer questions or hear feedback from anyone who tries them out.
Thanks Oana for sharing the news to the world! :D
Thank you for your effort to the community @Ioana Trasca (Wayfare) ! I've been using the ABLUnit Runner plugin for months already (not very actively but still) and it looks really good 😊
Glad to hear ABLUnit Runner has been useful! 🙌 Have you had a chance to try CrossWayAI yet?
Also, we're running a live webinar on CrossWayAI this Wednesday, June 24th, 3:30PM CET, with a hands-on demo of the dependency mapping and visualization features. Might be a good chance to see it in action: https://events.teams.microsoft.com/event/7e86f50b-8da3-4860-baa7-94b8086267cf@4ef71aea-a5c5-4ed5-86b0-8c4e99f0a178
No, I have not tried the CrossWayAI yet, but I will, when I have time :) Unfortunately I could not participate the demo this time.
