ProKB End-of-Life (EOL) Notice

Hello everyone,

Progress will be officially discontinuing the ProKB (downloadable version of the Progress Knowledge Base), with a planned End-Of-Life date of August 10th. ProKB has historically provided offline access to Knowledge Base content through a standalone application; however, usage of the application has been limited.

What this means:

As of the EOL date, ProKB will no longer be updated or supported. The application will remain available for download until August 10th, after which it will no longer be available.

Recommended Action:

To access the most current Knowledge Base articles and product information, we encourage you to use the Progress Community, which provides the latest content for all supported Progress products.

For those of you using OpenEdge, the Progress OpenEdge AI Assistant is a method to query the knowledge base as well.

We appreciate your understanding and continued partnership.

Sincerely,

Progress Software

    Pity. I like the format.

Why not just provide the database without UI.

We'll vibe code a ui for it ;-)

    • Mike Fechner (Consultingwerk)

Why do you need a local copy of it? The OpenEdge AI assistant is going to provide access to the articles soon.

Hmmm.....Would Progress care if we had an Community Maintained database? I assume the big issue as to why not to continue to support it is:

        a) Cost to support the app

        b) Cost to update the database.

I have an idea on how the community (aka me) could keep the database up-to-date with the latest entries. Users could then decide the interface they would like for it.

        Hi @Phillip Malone (Customer)

I checked in with the team on this. The guidance remains that you should just reference the online content. Progress can make key updates in real time, and these would not be reflected properly in any other solution.

        Apologies,

        Nichol
