Jason Phillips (Customer) asked a question.

Will LoadMaster VLM within Azure support new Microsoft Azure (MANA)?

Microsoft has announced that they will be upgrading their underlying hardware used for Azure network virtual appliances (NVAs) to use Microsoft Azure Network Adapters (MANA). The announcement and additional information can be found within the following articles below:

  1. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/blog/AzureInfrastructureBlog/announcing-microsoft-azure-network-adapter-mana-support-for-existing-vm-skus/4493279
  2. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-network/accelerated-networking-mana-existing-sizes

However, since MANA is being introduced after the release of existing Azure Marketplace images for NVAs, it is possible for some images to not support MANA.

Looking for documentation/confirmation that LoadMaster will support

  • Andrew Spagnuolo (Progress Software)

    Hi Jason,

Looking into this further, I found that "Accelerated Networking" must be enabled on at least one NIC in order to utilize MANA.

It appears that most Azure LoadMaster images do not support accelerated networking.

Accelerated networking is supported on some of the general-purpose and compute-optimized instance sizes with two or more vCPUs. These supported series are: D/DSv2 and F/Fs. On instances that support hyperthreading, Accelerated Networking is supported on VM instances with four or more vCPUs. Supported series are: D/Dsv3, E/Esv3, Fsv2, Lsv2, Ms/Mms and Ms/Mmsv2.

I'd like to confirm if this is a supported option for your current deployment. Can you let me know what size your current LoadMasters are configured for?

    Thanks,

Hi Andrew and thank you for your response.

Currently running Standard DS3 v2 with accelerated networking enabled.
