Hi @Martin Pecci (East Alabama Healthcare),

Yes — this is a scenario MOVEit Automation can handle, and using a custom script. MOVEit Automation does not have a built‑in pre‑check to see whether a remote network resource is reachable before attempting a write. However, you can achieve exactly what you’re looking for by adding a PowerShell custom script into the task before the destination step to validate network access and react accordingly.

MOVEit Automation allows PowerShell scripts to run as Process steps, which can:

    • Check network connectivity
    • Test access to a UNC path or remote endpoint
    • Decide whether to continue, pause, or fail the task gracefully

For example, a PowerShell script can:

    • Test whether a mapped drive or UNC path is reachable
    • Verify that a remote machine is online
    • Exit cleanly (or return a controlled error) if the network is unavailable

A few things to keep in mind are -

    • The script must be added as a Process step before the destination
    • It should be configured to run once per task, not per file
    • Network validation logic (e.g., Test-Path, Test-NetConnection, or ping) is handled entirely in PowerShell
    • MOVEit Automation will respect the script’s exit behavior

But writing such scripts is out of our scope of support, but to answer your question, they can surely be ingested inside a Task to accomplish what you are looking for. Thanks
