February Game - BLACKJACK

I hope everyone had a relaxing January, but it's time to get back to our Fun & Games!! This month, let's play BLACKJACK.

How do you play?

We're going to play a bit of a modified version, where you will see the dealer's hand first. I will not play a blackjack, which gives you the upper hand! We're also not going to bet, because I'm lazy and that's a bit hard remotely.

As for the rest:

  • Like this post to follow it for new hands every week.
  • Email Community@progress.com to play.
  • You will receive two cards to begin. This is your "hand".
    • Aces can be either ones or 11s. That's up to you.
    • Jacks, Queens, Kings are 10s
  • The object of the game is to get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. If a hand goes over 21, it is called a “bust” or “break,” and you lose.
  • Your hand will be compared to mine. I won't show you my hidden card until it's my turn. Being the dealer, I will hit on any hand 16 or lower. That means you'll never win with anything less than a 17 unless I bust.

How do you get points?

Every hand you win is worth 5 Community points. If you get Blackjack, you'll get an extra 5 points and get shouted out in the thread!

My first hand is in the Comments. Remember, I will not play a blackjack.

Let's Goooooo!

Alright! It's Monday and it's time for our second hand. Be sure to email Community@progress.com for your cards. Remember, with a six showing, unless I have an Ace not showing, I must hit.

    6 showing, second card hidden.

    Happy MONDAY everybody!

Alas, there was no blackjack last week, but unless you bust, you definitely all won against me. I had a trash hand, yet again! This week doesn't look any better 👀

    2 showing

Remember to email Community@progress.com for your hand this week!

How did I not decide what would happen during a "PUSH"!?!?

For those of you who don't know, a "Push" is when you have a hand that goes to the same total card value as the dealer. For example, we both have a "20" or similar. In a casino, that's called a "PUSH", and while it doesn't win you any money, it doesn't lose you any either.

(...Unless it's a Blackjack... but then it depends on if we're playing Spanish 21... Let's just keep it simple.)

Today, we have TWO PUSHES so far! @Patrice Perrot (PROGINOV) and @Chris Maden (Progress Software) have matched me and made me think: "What do I want to do?"

I want to give you points, that's what!

    So let's upgrade to:

    • 5 points for a win
    • 10 points for a Blackjack
    • and SEVEN points for a rare and beautiful "Push"

Don't forget to ask for your hands!
