December Game 2 - ANNUAL MADLIBS CONTEST

Because, yes, it is annual.

What's a "MadLib" you ask? Simple! Imagine I have a little story. I take that little story and I blank out some words - things like nouns, adjectives, verbs, etc. Then, I ask YOU for the types of words I need and throw them in. The goal is to get something hilarious.

Those who play will earn 10 Community points and a special badge. 😎

How to play:

  • Like this post to follow it
  • Email Community@progress.com with:
    • 10 nouns - the name of a person, place, or thing. Sidewalk, umbrella, bathtub, etc.
    • 10 adjectives - describes something or somebody. Lumpy, soft, ugly, messy, etc.
    • 10 verbs - an action word. Run, play, swim, etc.
    • 5 adverbs - tells how something is done. It modifies a verb and usually ends in "ly." Stupidly, quickly, carefully, etc.
    • 5 Celebrities
    • 3 Places - any sort of place. A city. A bathroom. A forest. Surprise me.
    • 3 Exclamations or silly words - Hoobajoob! Eureka! Onomatopoeia! Qapla'!
    • 3 Numbers
    • 3 Colors
    • 3 Animals
    • 3 Parts of the body
  • Submissions due by December 20th

What happens next? Well, my friend, that's where things get interesting. I will select a random MadLib puzzle from a new book of over 150 entries (which I bought with my own money, thank you) and fill in the blanks. I will then post it here and tag you. There is NO GUARANTEE that it will be funny - and that's half of it. The funny ones are true gems. How to get the funniest feeling? Read them aloud.

At the beginning of next year, I'll record myself performing the funniest one and share it will the group. What a great way to start the new year! 😘

Happy word-hunting!

Annual MadLibs Contest

  • Nichol Goldstein (Progress)

Alright! Let's get things kicked off with @James Palmer (Vertu Motors PLC)

I can picture this as a video for sure. I'd just need a good bear costume. Congratulations to @Roy Ellis (Progress Software) for making an appearance.

    MadLib - "Bears"

    • Chris Maden (Progress Software)

“Platypuses” is a fine English plural, but if you want the classical plural, as the root is Greek, it’s “platypodes.” Cf. “antipodes,” “octopodes.”

    • James Palmer (Vertu Motors PLC)

"Bears will come up to you and beg for beer". I suspect the "Roy Ellis" is also guilty of this trait!! @Roy Ellis (Progress Software) ???

    Hi James,

I am sure I don't know what you are talking about! 😂

    • James Palmer (Vertu Motors PLC)

There's a theme of improbable animal combinations developing this year! And I love the idea of pulling fudge over my follicles!

      • Nichol Goldstein (Progress)

I'm trying to come up with either an emoji or a meme for that and am coming up short. 🙃

  • Nichol Goldstein (Progress)

This one is by anonymous - but you know who you are!! 😆

    New Year's Resolution

    • James Palmer (Vertu Motors PLC)

Actually laughed out loud at brushing the undercarriage and shining the thong!
