Hello!
I am working on a set-up where list items in Sharepoint get synced to a module in Sitefinity. Everything for it is working as expected with the single exception of some taxon/tag fields.
We need the information in two SP columns (Location and Tags - currently existing in both Short Text columns and Managed Metadata columns) to populate two taxon fields in Sitefinity (also Location and Tags). However, the managed MetaData columns do not show up in the sync tool as fields that can be mapped from SP and when I try to map the Short Text version of the fields to the taxon it throws back an error: "When setting the value of taxa (collection of taxons), the value must be of a Guid[] type."
So my questions:
1) What (if any) column type in in SP can be used to populate Taxon fields in Sitefinity?
2) If I had to use GUID to populate them, how do I get the GUID for the taxons?
For reference: We are currently on 14.4 (planning to upgrade to 15.4 but that is an end of year project and the sync had to be done by the end of this month at the latest).
Unfortunately the Sharepoint connectors does not support tags/categories as you have noticed. The way I have overcome this in the past is to create a hidden field on the content type mapping the comma list of items that comes from Sharepoint. Using the IDataEvents when the content type is published using C# try/create the tags or categories using C#. I can try to locate a sample i made it in the past.
