SelfURL not working in PASOE

I think I must be missing something, but I can't get SelfURL in PASOE to return anything useful compared to what Webspeed does.

I found this https://community.progress.com/s/article/What-is-the-equivalent-SelfURL-WebSpeed-variable-in-PASOE but it's not exactly forthcoming on what it means to use the web-handler.p.

What do I need to do to get SelfURL working as it used to in Webspeed?

OE11.7 currently. Working on it.

Peter Judge likes this.
  • Which web handler are you using? I think the OpenEdge.Web.CompatibilityHandler should provide all CGI-ish shared variables.

    • James Palmer (Vertu Motors PLC)

Yeah it's the compatibility handler. And it's not getting the same value as it did in Webspeed.

      • Mike Fechner (Consultingwerk)

What value do you see and what value do you expect?

      • Peter Judge (Consultingwerk)

You can override/extend the various init-* internal procedures that the Classic WebSpeed code uses to set the values of various of those variables by adding a custom super procedure (the machanism is PASOE is the same as in Classic, using an environment variable).

This will let you return the "cgi-bin blah blah" parts in the selfURL, if that's what you're after.

Bit more info on this after I managed to get better feedback from the Dev team. It's not actually the SelfURL.

    Webspeed:

    GET-CGI("REQUEST_URI") = /used-cars/used-audi/ (plus a few params)

    PASOE:

GET-CGI("REQUEST_URI") = /www/page.p (this is the actual program handling the request)
