Layout Missing After Updating Development Environment

I'm working for an organization that updated from Sitefinity 11 to Sitefinity 13.3 over a year ago, but haven't done any development work since then so the development environment was still using 11. I have updated the environment to use 13.3 resources and the site loads properly but a layout seems to be missing and it's causing problems. When I go to their live site and add the layout to a specific template (Blank 1 Column), it automatically adjusts the layout to this:

imageHowever, in the develop environment when I add the "container" layout it is just labeled "container" and the pages associated with it don't load properly:

My guess is that when I updated the resources, possibly the new version of Bootstrap, that it overwrote the layout but I can't find what that might be.

Any ideas?

Thanks you!

I would use source control to compare what you have to the previous version of code.

Unfortunately the organization doesn't know where the source control for the last developer is. Though I can try to find something to compare the files in the various projects. I'll give that a try.

I've used WinMerge to compare the two different folders and I'm not finding anything that would account for this. Any other advice?

Hi, perhaps you may check the setting of what layout template it uses -

Advanced Setting -> Toolboxes -> PageLayouts -> Grids -> Tools -> container -> Layout Template

Thanks for the tip. I have already been to that page though. Both live and development point to the same place.

    Hi @Cliff Bailey (Customer)

Just from the screenshot you've shared, it's hard to judge, can you shed some details on the 'pages associated don't load properly'? Are there error messages or just rendering/layout issues?

I'd check if you're using the same framework for the template. The name 'container' is the way to go, the 'T5AF....' looks like asp.net placeholder naming convention (webforms opposed to mvc). I'd also check if the template is using the same resource-package as the layout widgets added to the toolbox, custom layouts get registered globally but layout/template location is often scoped.

I'd also try adding the file manually in the project, you can find the location and markup here: Bootstrap4 and Bootstrap5.

Thank you all for your help. The web pages are actually super simple with just a javascript redirect going to a different page. So I gave up looking for the custom place holder and just updated the backend SQL table (sf_object_data) to point to the standard ContentPlaceholder1 instead of the "T5AFB ... " placeholder. That has fixed the issue.

    Thanks!
