James Arsenault (Progress Software) asked a question.
An important part of managing your Corticon deployment is planning when to update your Corticon version. Key documents to help you time your updates are:
- the Corticon Lifecycle Policy which defines the lifecycle phases of a Corticon release (Active, Sunset and Retired), and
- the Corticon Lifecycle which list the Corticon releases and identifies what phase each release is in.
LTS versions of Corticon are generally supported for 4 years, that includes 3 years in the Active phase and 1 in the Sunset phase. After the Sunset phase a version is Retired. Once retired, Progress support will still work with a customer to resolve problems but you may be required to update your Corticon version if the issue requires a patch from Progress.
A couple of noteworthy retirement dates are:
- Corticon 5.7 will be retired in June 2024
- Corticon 6.1 will be retired in February 2025
Keeping your Corticon deployment up-to-date will ensure you have the latest security updates, access to the newest features and platforms, and access to fixes if you encounter problems.
