I'm creating an application to setup HDP environments and users using the public API, enforcing the company rules.

In order to save personal settings, it would be great to have some kind of free text field on entities.

Actually I use the description field on datasource and tenant to store some metadata in Json. Ex:

• the name of the application using the database
• the environment (Live or staging)
• ...

I also structured the names of entities using codes, but touching the end of this approach. Some elements doesn't have 'name' field, enumerated values are a pain...

1- Are there any better solution than using these description fields

2- How can I do with users, ip-whitelist, logins, ...
