Okay, Community! Literally no one asked for it, and yet here it is anyway: An interview with me. 😃

Q: Introduce yourself to the Community

Hullo, everyone! Nichol here. You may recognize my name from the informational/flippant posts I’ve been making of late. I’m still fairly new to my role but I’m really enjoying it so far. Within Progress, there are many solid, kind, intelligent people to work with to help enhance the Community, and it’s been a joy to get to know them better. It’s also wonderful to connect with you all more closely! My job is to be able to make your experience a good one, so any time I can connect with you is a positive experience. Even if you yell at me. (Please don’t yell at me.)

About me - My job history is a cloud of random skills like:

• Owning my own comic book writing/illustration business working on properties like Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock, Cartoon Network's Uncle Grandpa, and more
• Co-owning an Edible Arrangements franchise
• Owning/managing a small rental property (now THERE was an experience in my 20s! Rats, roaches, and robbers – oh my)
• Executive partnership and administration for C-staff,

And now I’m trying my hand at this opportunity. All of these roles have been fun, educational, and prosperous in their own ways, but I’m always hungry for a new challenge. (Jack of all trades, master of none. 😃)

Q: What is your favorite part of your job?

Success. I define success by how often people engage in the Community area. Whether that’s post views, comments, answers or taking advantage of our free webinars, beta opportunities, contests and more.

I’m always trying to see what content is most interesting to each product so I can help advise the team on how to give you what you’re looking for, beyond just forum activity (though that’s important, too!!) If you want to give input on that, check out my itty-bitty-tiny-winy survey here.

Q: In your opinion, what is the most important area of the Community users need to know about?

Gamification and our adorable robots! Our sweet Ai always wants to #SaveTheCommunity​ while that rascal Akuma would rather destroy it! I work so hard to illustrate them every month! 😝

No – honestly, the most important area is defined by the user. Every person’s needs are different, and part of my job is to learn more about how to support each of them, helping them be successful with their product(s). Without Progress’ success, I’m kinda out of a job… so… consider me motivated!

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of work?

During COVID times, I have had really bad bouts of insomnia. I picked up writing action/sci-fi/romance fanfiction novels. From March until now, I’ve written 3 novels, am on a 4th, and have several short stories as well (about 521k words to-date!)

Once my latest book is complete, I’ll be dusting off old comic book scripts and rewriting them as original prose. I will never write the Great American novel, but with over 48k views of my stories so far, they can’t entirely be trash, either. (Either that, or my readers have horrible taste.) <This is where I insert my imposter’s syndrome!>

Q: What is your super power?

Knowing when to have a good cry, and then "getting it done" anyway. Resilience is what’s gotten me so far in life, I think. Also, I make a good bruschetta.
