    Hi Alex,

    When you change passwords, it should redirect you back to the screen you were at prior to selecting Change Password.

    If you log out/log back in does it apply the new password?

    One other thing to try is a different browser or incognito mode to make sure cookies aren't an issue.

    If the problem persists, you can always try stopping restarting the HDP service using the stop.sh/start.sh scripts in the ddcloud directory.

    Beyond that, we would need to see what version of HDP you are running and possibly collect logs. Please open a support case if the above ideas don't get it resolved.

    Aaron-

    I have tried in Chrome, Chrome in Incognito, and Firefox and all fail to update the password. I click on Save and nothing happens. No errors are displayed either.

    Technically I never actually log in completely to the UI since it forces me to the .../hdpui/forcePasswordChange page. However, if I start a new window in the same browser or a different browser after clicking Save, the password is NOT updated.

    I will reach out to a sysadmin to see if they can successfully execute the stop.sh/start.sh scripts.

    If these steps do not resolve the issue, then I will attempt to log a support case. Thanks!

    Alex

    Aaron-

    Successfully restarted the instance with the stop.sh/start.sh but that did not resolve the issue. Will attempt to create a ticket with Support.

    Thanks!

    In the interest of time and in case this affects anyone else, I worked around this. In our installation, the credentials are contained in a local database created/configured by the installer. It was easy enough simply to clear the password expiration flag in the affected table:

    Change to the database directory in the HDP installation location

    • cd /opt/Progress/DataDirect/Hybrid_Data_Pipeline/Hybrid_Server/ddcloud/database

    Connect to the HSQLDB database:

    • java -jar ./lib/sqltool.jar --inlineRc=url=jdbc:hsqldb:hsql://localhost/d2caccount

    Find the user table and the row to update:

    • select * from D2CACCOUNT.LOGIN;

    Update the PASSWORDEXPIRATION value to NULL for the appropriate row where the value for ID is provided in the first query:

    • UPDATE D2CACCOUNT.LOGIN SET PASSWORDEXPIRATION=NULL WHERE ID = 3;
    • COMMIT;

    Verify that the user can sign on again
