SiteSync: Performance degradation when syncing pages with MVC navigation

When a user syncs pages with MVC navigation on it, if the site has a lot of pages in a complex structure (3-4 levels of nesting), and there is a search index including the "static HTML for pages" option, the synchronization takes longer.

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisites: 1. Create an environment with a lot of pages (e.g. 40 root level > 5 child > 5 subchild > 5 subsubchild). 2. Create a search index that includes "static HTML for pages" Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set up Site sync 2. Create a new page and add the MVC navigation on the page 3. Try to sync that page As a result, the synchronization would take significant time.

Workaround

Option 1:
Exclude the "static HTML for pages" from the search indexes

Option 2:
1. Include the attached NavigationModelCustom.cs file in the project (target environment)
2. Change the following line in the custom class:

if(identity != null && identity.Name != "sync@mail.com")

Instead of "sync@mail.com", use the email of the dedicated "sync" user with admin rights.

3. Register the custom class by adding the following lines in your Global.asax

{
    Bootstrapper.Bootstrapped += Bootstrapper_Bootstrapped;
}

private void Bootstrapper_Bootstrapped(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
    FrontendModule.Current.DependencyResolver.Rebind<INavigationModel>().To<CustomNavigationModel>();

4. Build the project and deploy the changes

Notes

The amount of votes an item in the feedback portal has is taken into consideration when determining its priority.
