Cannot associate ABL method using OUTPUT DATASET parameter with verb in REST Resource URI Editor

An ABL class contains a dataset containing a temp-table which contains a field defined LIKE a database table field and a method using that dataset as an OUTPUT DATASET parameter. When associating that method with a verb in the REST Resource URI Editor, an error message box containing no message is displayed.

An ABL class contains:

1. A dataset containing a temp-table which contains a field defined LIKE a database table field.

DEFINE TEMP-TABLE ttOrder 
	FIELD OrderNo LIKE Sports2000.Order.Ordernum.

2. A method using that dataset as an OUTPUT DATASET parameter

When associating that method with a verb in the REST Resource URI Editor, an error message box containing no message is displayed.

Steps to Reproduce

Clarifying Information

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a copy of the sports2000 database.
2. In a Proenv window:

a. prodb sports2000 sports2000
b. proserve sports2000 -S 31501

3. In Progress Developer Studio for OpenEdge, create a database connection to the database started in step 2.
4. Import the attached project R00282942 into PDS for OE.
5. In Project Explorer:

a. Expand the "Defined Services" node.
b. Right-click on the "pgmservice" node.
c. Select "Edit" from the context menu.

6. In the REST Resource URI Editor under "Resources", click the Add button (green plus sign).
7. Enter a name for the Resource URI and click OK.
8. Under "Verb Association", click the "..." button next to any verb.
9. In the "Associate Operation with Verb" dialog:

a. Under "Resources", select OrderClass.cls.
b. Under "ABL Routines", select ReadOrder and click OK. An error message box will appear containing no message. The title bar will say "REST Invoc".

Cause

The problem mentioned in the issue is not because of OUTPUT PARAMETER or with the LIKE keyword but with the casing in the name of the database when using the LIKE keyword for FIELDS in temp-table.
For example,

1. Following case fails with database sports2000 but referring DB name as Sports2000.

DEFINE TEMP-TABLE ttOrder 
        FIELD OrderNo LIKE Sports2000.Order.Ordernum.

2. Following case works:

DEFINE TEMP-TABLE ttOrder 
        FIELD OrderNo LIKE sports2000.Order.Ordernum.

Resolution

Upgrade to 11.7.0.

Workaround

Define all temp-table fields used in the OUTPUT DATASET parameter directly in the temp-table definition; do not use the LIKE keyword.

Notes

Please note that the issue can also occur when table name is abbreviated and has different casing. This issue is still seen in 11.7.0 and will be addressed in a later release.
