Community Email Gateway

  • Starting today, we enabled the community email gateway. So from now on you can:

    • Answer back the thread using email by just hitting “reply” to the email notification. Your answer will then go into the thread.
    • Create a new thread by sending an email to the appropriate email address matching the forum where you want to post.

Keep in mind that you'll need to have the  forum notification set to ON.

To find out the different email addresses for each forum, you can:

1- Go to the sitemap: https://community.progress.com/p/aboutthecommunity.aspx and click [Email]

2- Go to the forum landing page and click the “Email this forum” widget.

  • It appears that, since you made this change, the emails are no longer coming through with the thead title as a link.  Since that is the way I usually respond, this is a significant loss of functionality for me.

  • You are correct, the title of the email is not anymore a link. We'll see if we can have that back...

In the meantime, in the body of the email you still have a link that you can click which will take you to the thread.

  • Well, I tried that with your Test thread message and got Group Not Found.

Unfortunately, the first message I got like this was the one that started Hi Tim so it looked like I was receiving a personal communication by mistake.

  • Thomas, we changed the email template to match the old style where we had a link to the thread. Thsi has just been deployed a few minutes ago.

  • Much better ... though, of course, by now I am used to looking at the bottom! :)
