We now are using 3th party software to compress the database backup file.
First we have to wait until the backup is completed. The backup file is already using disk space.
After completion we start the compression. Which also takes time and disk space.
I would be nice if probkup (real) compress the backup data immediately. This saves time and disk space.
Or support backing up to named pipes, that would solve the issue on unix/linux.
I was told by tech support in the past that it works but is not supported.
Maybe it is supported now. The PKB doesn't state that it's unsupported, see knowledgebase.progress.com/.../P118361
