The next Quebec PUG Meeting will be held in Montreal on Nov 29, 2018. We are fortunate to have both Mike Furgal and Peter Judge making the drive north to share their knowledge on indexes in the Progress database and 4GL.
If you are already a member of the GUPQ, attendance is free but an RSVP is mandatory. If you are not a member of the GUPQ, you are welcome to become a member for $50 CAD / year and join us in Montreal. Sorry, no remote access will be available.
Mike will be diving in to DB internals, explaining how indexes are stored in the database and what you need to do to maintain them.
Peter and I will be presenting our "4GL Code Performance Workshop Take 3: You don't know *beep* about Indexes!". This 3+ hour hands-on workshop will teach you things you never knew about how the 4GL selects indexes when parsing queries.
RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org please.
Part 1 of a 2-part series on how the OpenEdge Database Index Manager works. This first part will cover the internal structures of the indexes, b-trees, key storage, and compression. This will also show you why you need to care about these structures and what tooling there is available to report and manage these structures.
