Envisioning, designing and building an application is both a technical and a communication challenge. In particular, using words and pictures to communicate specific and detailed technical concepts can be misunderstood resulting in an application that doesn't meet its requirements. One solution is UML, the Unified Modeling Language, which enables developers to work using precise diagrams that reflect different aspects of the application. UML enables developers to work at a higher level of abstraction while also communicating a design inside and outside the team. You'll gain an understanding of UML and how you can employ it today to effectively plan, design and communicate application concepts.
