Export from Salesforce and bulk Load protocol

This question is answered

Hi there,
I have this scenario:

  • Connect64XE for ODBC driver is set up to use bulk load (parameters EnableBulkLoad=1, BulkLoadBatchSize=X).
  • The data source system is Salesforce.
  • The application exports/queries data from Salesforce.

Question: What protocol is used to export data? Is it the specific Salesforce Bulk API?

The documentation specifies the bulk load import uses Salesforce Bulk API. However the documentation is not clear whether for export is used the same protocol.

Regards,

Jan

  • Hi Jan,

The Connect XE 7.1 ODBC Driver for Salesforce currently do not support Bulk API for Fetch. Currently the Bulk is only supported for Insert, Update and Delete operations. The driver is currently using SOAP APIs to export the data out of Salesforce.

We are working on to add this functionality in the next Salesforce ODBC driver release to support this functionality. The release currently expected to happen in Q2 2018.

  • Yes, this feature is getting implemented in Salesforce JDBC driver as well.

Currently this feature is in preview state and expected to be GA in Q4 2018 (both ODBC and JDBC).
