For OpenEdge 10 and later:The SQL Client Access deployment component for OpenEdge 10 and later, can be downloaded for free from the Progress Electronic Software Download Center (ESD) for any of
the same version(s) for which OpenEdge licenses have been purchased:
1. Go to the Progress Download Center. See Article
Where is the ESD / Product Download Center?2. Login with your ESD user credentials.
3. Select Software
4. Select Progress OpenEdge
5. Select the OpenEdge Version you're using
6. Scroll down to the entry:
SQL Client Access7. Select the SQL Client Access product.
8. Take note of the
Serial Number and Control Code for the relevant Operating System (
These are found at the top of the SQL Client Access download page in chart form, not in the license addendum as with other Progress products).
9. Choose the Operating System needed and start the download.
10. Install the SQL Client Access product using the Serial Number & Control codes noted from the top part of the the ESD download option.
Starting with
OpenEdge 10.2A, a
64-bit ODBC driver for Windows was introduced. It is available for download on the Progress ESD (Electronic Software Download) site, provided you have the appropriate OpenEdge licenses under maintenance.
For a non-current release (example: OpenEdge 10.2A):

For the current release (example: OpenEdge 12.2):
Download Software >> CompanyName ESD >> Progress® OpenEdge® >> Progress® OpenEdge® 12.2 >> 12.2 SQL Client Access >> Windows 64-bit
For the Linux platform a 64 bit ODBC driver was introduced with the SQL Client Access for OpenEdge 11.0.
When a 64 bit ODBC connection is needed on Linux to an OpenEdge version 10.1A or higher database then a 64 bit SQL Client Access from OpenEdge 11 or OpenEdge 12 will need to be installed to connect to the OpenEdge 10.1A or higher database.
