Collecting Email-Alerts
Dear Forum, I guess I have a rather simple question, which poped up, when we just now made a routine shut-down. We have 6 enabled active monitors on a switch with Email-Alerts. If one of this ports is down, we need to know it. Yet, when wie shut the switch down or when we have more then one port down, we got 6 different Mails with one and the same content. Is there a posibility to collect Email-Alerts, of one dvice, which are triggert in the same lets say10 seconds so that WUG is sending only one E-Mail or is there a setting, where I can define only one Email-Alert for different ports? sincerely, Erik

  • If you apply your actions/action policies at the device level, you get a single e-mail alert from the device regardless of which monitor(s) go down. Let's say you have 20 active monitors on that device -- if the action/action policy was applied on the device level and you shut it down, then you would have gotten one e-mail with those 20 active monitors listed.
  • Hi Erik,
As Jason wrote, you can have one Action on the device and none on the active monitors
    -OR-
you have none on the device and on every active monitor a action (as I have).

In this case, be sure you set the ping monitor to critical, this means that the other monitors aren't checkt as long as ping is down (makes sense).

for the "same emails", change the subject of the email to something like:
    ACTION %Device.Attribute.Customer - %Device.Type %Device.DisplayName Monitor(%
    ActiveMonitor.Name) %ActiveMonitor.State, Devicestate:%Device.State at %System.Time
There are a lot of other variables you can set here, see the help page of WuG.
