How to change the date displayed in blogs?


How to add more columns in the content modules in Sitefinity and display any information in them.
The date displays correctly on the front end but when the field is added as a new column to the blog posts grid view the wrong date displays.

Some blog post items have different publication date for their master and the live versions. For more information on Content lifecycle reference Notes section.
The date displayed in all Sitefinity content modules is the date when an item was last modified. How to change this date to be publication date.

For Sitefinity`s new content editing experience:
1. Go to Administration -> Settings -> Advance -> Blogs -> Controls -> PostsBackend (for blog posts which are inside each blog) / BlogsBackend (for the list of blogs) -> Views -> PostsBackendList/BlogsBackendList ->View Modes-> Grid-> Columns -> Date

By default the value there is: <span>{{ (DateModified) ? DateModified.sitefinityLocaleFormat('dd MMM, yyyy hh:mm') : '-' }}</span>

Set it to be:
Action 1: <span>{{ (PublicationDate) ? PublicationDate.sitefinityLocaleFormat('dd MMM, yyyy hh:mm') : '-' }}</span>
Action 2: set the value of "Bound Property Name" textbox to be "PublicationDate" and save changes.


Result: blogs now display "PublicationDate"
Using this approach other columns can be updated as well.

For example to add a new column in any module follow the steps (sample steps will be provided with Blog Posts):

Go to Administration -> Settings -> Advance -> Blogs -> Controls -> PostsBackend -> Views -> PostsBackendList ->View Modes-> Grid-> Columns -> click "Create new" and select "DataColumnElement".
Fill in with:
Bound Property Name: Summary <-- enter the name of a text field from the blogs module
Name: Summary <-- enter name for the field 
HeaderText: Summary <-- enter name of the column which holds the field information
Save changes.




Note: if adding "DataColumnElement" with Name: PublicationDate, it will not display any date. Change the value Name: to something different than PublicationDate and it will display data.

For Sitefinity`s classic backend interface:
To add a new column to the Grid view go to Administration -> Settings -> Advanced -> [Content item]-> Controls -> [Content item]Backend -> Views ->[Content item]BackendList -> View Modes -> Grid -> Columns and there press Create new -> DataColumnElement. Enter the following details:

Bound Property Name - leave blank
Client Template - <span>{{PublicationDate}}</span>
Name - Publication Date
ResourceClassId - leave blank
HeaderCssClass - leave blank
HeaderText - Publication Date
TitleText - Publication Date
ItemCssClass - sfRegular
Width - 0
Disable Sorting - False
Sort expression - leave blank

When the column is created and the value for the Client Template field is set to <span>{{PublicationDate}}</span> the publication date from the master item will be displayed. To use the publication date of the Live version of the item edit the created column by entering <span>{{LifecycleStatus.PublicationDate}}</span> in the Client Template field.
