After upgrading MOVEit Transfer, the Daytime and Nightly scheduled tasks started to fail with the error Unhandled Exception: System.InvalidCastException: Conversion from string "" to type 'Integer' is not valid. ---> System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format..

The data directory did not get updated even though the upgrade was successful without. One of the reasons is the presence of an old registry key "ResidentBaseDir" which value is set to the wrong data directory.

Get a backup/snapshot of the environment and have a rollback plan just in case. Then do the following:

1. Open the MOVEit Transfer Config App. Click on the "Paths" tab and see what is the data directory (example: X:\MOVEit Transfer or MOVEit DMZ).

2. Go to the data directory and check the version for a couple of the daytime or night time processes; for example, check "emailnotify" (right click on it and click on the "details" tab to see the version). If the version is different from the one version that was just upgraded to, then that is an indicator of the issue.

3. Next, run RegEdit and get into the registry.
4. Go this path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Standard Networks\Silock
5. See if the following key "ResidentBaseDir" is present and what the value is for that key; it should look like the screenshot below; in this case, the value of the key is set to C:\MOVEitDMZ. Compare that directory to the one that was checked in step 1, and it should be different.



6. Rename the Key "ResidentBaseDir" to  "xResidentbaseDir"
7. Run the current version installer and choose repair to get the data directory updated.
