Question/Problem Description

When attempting to insert data into a column of a different data type using preparedStatement.executeBatch(), the driver returned the following error: “Value cannot be converted to the requested type.” Subsequently, when attempting to execute preparedStatement.close(), the driver hung.

Steps to Reproduce

Step:1 - Create a table: CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXISTS rtest02( id INTEGER); Step:2 - Insert data into the table using a different data type. String insertSQL = 'INSERT INTO rtest02 (id) VALUES (?); PreparedStatement preparedStatement = null; try { preparedStatement = connection.prepareStatement(insertSQL); preparedStatement.setString(1, 'abcd'); preparedStatement.addBatch(); preparedStatement.executeBatch(); System.out.println('Inserted row 1.'); } catch(SQLException e) { System.out.println('Insert failed'); e.printStackTrace(); } Step:3 - The driver responded with an error: 'Value cannot be converted to requested type' which is expected Step:4 - Upon trying to close the PreparedStatement, the operation hangs and does not respond back.The PreparedStatement call hangs specifically when preparedStatement.executeBatch() is executed. finally { try { if (preparedStatement != null) { preparedStatement.close(); } }catch (SQLException e) { throw new RuntimeException(e); } }
