Question/Problem Description

Currently for Cloud projects that use the reCaptcha2 widget in the Renderer from the Sitefinity .Net Core repo and use the SecretKey from the Library in the appSettings in the web.config. E.g:

experience an error when submitting the form: "Failed to verify you are not a robot".

Steps to Reproduce

- Setup a CMS and a Renderer and implement the recaptcha2 widget as per our repo ( https://github.com/Sitefinity/sitefinity-aspnetcore-mvc-samples/tree/master/src/captcha ) - Set the secretKey in the appSettings in the web.config of the CMS. E.g: <add key="sf-env:webSecurityConfig/captcha:SecretKey" value="the-secret-goes-here" /> Add the captcha to a Form and Submit it in the frontend.

Cause

The issue is caused by a bug in Sitefinity

The path to the configuration property that is generated by the CMS is incorrect, thus the value is then not read properly.

The generated path has capital S (sf-env:webSecurityConfig/captcha:SecretKey), but that is actually wrong, according to the documentation: "The parameters passed to the environment variable configuration are case sensitive and must be configured using camel case"

Resolution

Use camel case for the key name.

E.g: sf-env:webSecurityConfig/captcha:secretKey
