A new task is needed to pick up a group of files from the source location then zip the files using the Zip Advanced script. In the For Each File loop, "Update Original Delete" is selected, but the source files do not get deleted and no errors are returned. After adding the "Update Original Delete" element after the For Each File loop element, the source files do not get deleted, and the log shows the warning "No files to delete." What is happening?

Using the Zip Advanced process, after creating a zip archive with multiple files, is there a way to delete the individual source files afterwards?

After unzipping files, how can the source files be deleted? The task is returning: "Not deleting or renaming file created by a script" for the Update Original (rename or delete) step in an advanced task.

The reason why the task does not process the original Source files is because of a particular parameter that is set by default, the ZipAdvanced_IgnoreOriginals parameter in the Zip Advanced script or the UnzipAdvanced_IgnoreAfterUnzip parameter in the Unzip Advanced script. They are set to "Yes" by default. Functionally, this means that after the Zip Advanced script or the Unzip Advanced script runs, the source files are removed and no longer in the cache for processing. 

1) Change the ZipAdvanced_IgnoreOriginals parameter in the Zip Advanced script to "No". If using the Unzip Advanced script, change the UnzipAdvanced_IgnoreAfterUnzip parameter to "No".
2) Then, in the For Each File loop, determine how the task should handle the original source files. 
3) Add any appropriate conditional If statements to the For Each File loop to determine how the Zip file should be handled as well as how the other source files should be handled. 
4) Add any destinations or Delete Original File from Source steps to the appropriate If statements. 

Be sure to handle the files with conditional statements appropriately after setting this parameter. For instance, many administrators would want a File loop to handle the Zip files and the original files differently.

If the task is using the above parameter correctly and still does NOT delete the original files, there may be an issue with the task not recognizing the parameter. In this case, create a new task and rebuild the task in question and test if this corrected the issue.

In most cases, the Delete Original File From Source statement should be in a for each file loop (Advanced task). This assures that all source files are deleted.

To avoid a situation where sending the zip folder itself fails and the original files are deleted, it also works to include a separate file loop after the main one. This second loop includes the delete original files step, but only if the task error code or the task status are appropriate.

Below is an example file loop structure for an Advanced Task that can be used as a template: 

If the task continues to ignore deleting the source zip file, a workaround would be to use a Run Task step to run a 2nd task. In this 2nd task, it can be configured with a NoOp script and a source step to identify the files and delete them.
