GetLastError The system cannot find the path specified when adding an SNMP adapter license to an existing OpenEdge 12 installation

OpenEdge is not installed on the C:\ drive were Windows short file notation is enabled by default, but on the E: drive.

The command:

fsutil 8dot3name query E:

returns:

The volume state is: 1 (8dot3 name creation is disabled).
The registry state is: 2 (Per volume setting - the default).
Based on the above two settings, 8dot3 name creation is disabled on E:

The popup Warning message:

Non-Default Drive - Warning
You are using the E: drive. Ensure shortpath is enabled for this drive
[OK]

was ignored twice during the initial OpenEdge 12.x installation.

When adding the additional license 'SNMP adapter' to the initial OpenEdge 12.x installation the following error is shown:

GetLastError
The system cannot find the path specified.

The 'showcfg' command executed in an OpenEdge 12.x proenv command prompt shows that the 'SNMP Adapter' license is installed:

The following registry keys were missing on the machine after the SNMP adapter license was added:

Windows short file notation was not enabled on the disk drive used by the OpenEdge 12.x installation

Enabling Windows short file notation on the drive(s) used by the OpenEdge 12.x installation using commands like: 
fsutil 8dot3name set E: 0
and import the missing SNMP adapter related registry keys. 

If enabling short file notation on the used disk drive and importing the missing SNMP related registry keys does not solve the issue then an OpenEdge 12.x reinstallation after enabling Windows short file notation on the used disk drive will be needed.
