Can  Azure AI Search service be shared between Sitefinity SaaS staging and production environments?

Specifically:
If configuring the search widget on the staging site and select a search index from the shared Azure AI Search service, will the same index be safely usable in production site? Could this cause data conflicts or overwriting issues, since both environments might reference the same index name?

Is it supported to connect both staging and production environments to the same Azure AI Search service?
If yes, what are the best practices for separating indices or preventing conflicts?
If no, is there a recommended workaround that allows the user to share a single Azure AI Search service between environments (e.g., separate index names or environment-specific aliases, etc.)?

The site is hosted in SaaS Sitefinity Cloud platform.

The general setup in Sitefinity Cloud with Azure Search Service (available with add-on) is to have dedicated service per environment, as this ensures the necessary isolation and this would be the recommended setup from Sitefinity Cloud team.

From a technical perspective, it is possible to use a shared Azure Search Service across all environments (there is no validation from Sitefinity whether another instance/environment is connected to the same service), as long as content is not synced across environments (e.g. site sync is configured from Staging to Production).

If the setup does not include content sync across environments, it is possible to use a shared Azure Search Service, with a risk for data conflicts. In order to avoid data conflicts caused by search indexes used by multiple environment, separate search indexes must be created (e.g. using prefix/suffix in the index names).

If the setup includes content sync across environments, it is not possible to use a shared Azure Search Service, for the following reasons:

• If the user attempts to sync an index from Staging to Production, it will result in error on Production that a search index with the same name already exists in Azure Search Service
• The user cannot use a search indexes with different names, because the search widgets on pages will be configured with one name on Staging and one name on Production. Syncing pages with the search widget will be a problem.
