Question/Problem Description

When trying to get the date and time when a page was last modified and published, the following code returns the DateTime which is not the last time the page was published or saved as draft:

            PageManager pageManager = PageManager.GetManager();
            var pageNode = pageManager.GetPageNodes().FirstOrDefault();
            var lastModifiedDate = pageNode.LastModified;

How to get the value of the DateTime when the page was last edited?

Cause

To explain in short, pages in sitefinity have two Classes PageNode and PageData.
The "PageNode" saves all the metadata of the page such as Title, owner, URL and other search related properties(properties stored under "Title & properties") and the "PageData" stores all the Page content and versions(helpful for revision history). Hence, the PageData's LastModified represents the DateTime at which the page content was modified whereas PageNode's LastModified represents the DateTime at which the metadata of the page was modified.

Resolution

Utilize the following code to get the DateTime at which the page content was modified:

            PageManager pageManager = PageManager.GetManager();
            var pageData = pageManager.GetPageDataList().FirstOrDefault();
            var lastModifiedDate = pageData.LastModified;
