Is it possible to generate an absolute URL instead of a relative URL in the link generated by the Links tool of the Rich Text Editor?
How to generate an absolute URL instead of a relative URL in a link of the Rich text editor/content block?

Here is an example:

The HTML view of the Long Text field where a page and a document is linked using the Links tool:

<p>Rich Text Links Test:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Link to page:</p>
<p><a href="http://mydomain.com/testpage"" sfref="[f669d9a7-009d-4d83-ddaa-000000000002]853BA92E-E2AD-4377-8802-C2068B95BB6D" data-sf-ec-immutable="">TestPage</a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Link to Document:</p>
<p><a data-sf-ec-immutable="" data-sf-ec-document-immutable="true" href="http://mydomain.com/docs/default-source/default-document-library/testpdf1.pdf?sfvrsn=81bd5564_1"" title="TestPDF1" sfref="[Telerik.Sitefinity.Libraries.Model.Document|OpenAccessDataProvider]6b2a15c1-6b97-40fc-9bbd-81247c049059">TestPDF11</a></p>

After saving/publishing it, the code appears like below:

<p>Rich Text Links Test:</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Links to pages:</p>
<p><a href="/testpage" sfref="[f669d9a7-009d-4d83-ddaa-000000000002]853BA92E-E2AD-4377-8802-C2068B95BB6D" data-sf-ec-immutable="">TestPage</a></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Links to Documents:</p>
<p><a href="/docs/default-source/default-document-library/testpdf1.pdf?sfvrsn=81bd5564_1" title="TestPDF1" data-sf-ec-document-immutable="true" sfref="[documents%7COpenAccessDataProvider]6b2a15c1-6b97-40fc-9bbd-81247c049059" data-sf-ec-immutable="">TestPDF11</a></p>

Sitefinity removes the "http://mydomain.com"".

Resolution

It is not recommended to keep absolute URL's. This was earlier considered a bug and has been fixed in previous version.

AdminApp: Hyperlink to pages or content items of the site captures absolute url

Workaround

- This may be achieved by registering custom HttpModule and hooking for HttpApplication.PreSendRequestContent and using the LinkParser like in the link in the below notes section. This needs to be tested.

- Try creating a custom MVC content block.
