When allowing users to connect to the LoadMaster, you may not want them to have administration rights to modify every setting on the LoadMaster. The bal user is the default administrative user for the LoadMaster, but other users (with varying levels of permissions) can be added.

To add users, go to System Configuration > System Administration > User Management > Local Users in the LoadMaster Web User Interface (WUI). Here, you can add a user with local or remote credentials.

Once you click Add User, the user is created but they only have Read Only access.

To assign permissions, click Modify. The details for assigning rights are as follows:

• Read Only: This status is given to a user when there are no options selected on this screen. This user can only observe configurations on the LoadMaster.
• Real Servers: The user in question can add, modify, or delete Real Servers globally or on the Virtual Service.
• Virtual Services: This enables options within a Virtual Service to be toggled.
Note: This does not extend to Real Servers or SSL certificates because these are covered in other categories.
• Rules: A user with this permission can create, modify, and delete Content Rules.
Note: This does not give the ability to apply a Content Rule to a Virtual Service. To enable this, give this user Virtual Services permissions.
• System Backup: Select this option to enable permissions to back up and restore configurations.
• Certificate Creation: The user has the ability to create and apply certificates.
• Intermediate Certificates: A users with this permission can import intermediate certificates.
• Certificate Backup: A user can perform backup, modification, and restoration of all certificate options.
• User Administration: A user can modify the permissions of other users.
• All Permissions: This user is granted all of the above abilities, as well as Geo Control.
• Geo Control: This enables the administration of the GEO feature, if present, on the LoadMaster. The visibility of this option and the Global Balancing menu option is contingent on this LoadMaster’s license, which must include the GEO feature.

When assigning permissions, all users will have the ability to observe the logs and statistics of this unit, regardless of the permissions that are assigned. This is because, even if the option is not shown, all users have read only access.
