Question/Problem Description

When creating a new site and duplicating all pages from another site. After that changing the page templates in the new site, so the new site is using own page templates different than the duplicated site. Going to the new site's backend at Design -> Page Templates and selecting any of the page templates from the duplicated site (these templates are not used by the new site anymore). -> Share with... -> select the checkbox to unshare with the new site -> the below error page appears and it's not possible to unshare the page template, nevertheless it's not used by any of the pages of the new site.

Note: The counter for 'Used in Pages' from Content -> Page Templates screen does not seem to be updated correctly and is showing the the page template is still used in some pages, despite the page template is not used in any of the pages.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a new site by duplicating pages and settings from an existing site (e.g. Default). 2. In the new site (e.g. Second Site) remove all references for the pages that are using a particular page template (e.g. MyCustomTemplate). 3. Go back to Default site and navigate to Content -> Page Templates -> select MyCustomTemplate by clicking Actions -> 'Share with...' 4. Uncheck 'Second Site' -> Save Changes -> the following message will be displayed: "Cannot stop sharing this template" Expected Result: The changes will be saved. Actual Result: The error message above will be generated.

Cause

Workaround

The workaround solution is to delete obsolete record in sf_page_data table and then manually unshare the template from the UI. Please do the following steps on the backup of the database:

1/ In the newly created site.

2/ Identify the pages that are preventing the page template to be unshared by navigating to Design -> Page Templates:

3/ Click on 'Used in Pages'.

4/ Go to Pages -> Title & Properties and copy the id of the page node from the url for each page.

5/ Find the corrupted record in the database with the below query:

SELECT * FROM [dbo].[sf_page_data]
WHERE page_node_id = 'XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX' AND visible = 0 AND culture = ' '

6/ If found, it can be deleted with the below query:

DELETE FROM [dbo].[sf_page_data]
WHERE page_node_id = 'XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX' AND visible = 0 AND culture = ' '

7/ Restart the Application

8/ Make sure no pages are using that page template (e.g. 'Progress Custom Template') in the new site.

9/ Unshare the page template from the backend by going to Design -> Page Templates -> select the page template -> Actions -> Share with... -> uncheck the new site.
