Additional fields in search index are not set for first item of content type

When an additional field is configured in the search index settings for a custom field of the dynamic content type, when the items are indexed the first item of the dynamic content type will not have the custom field value indexed.

Question/Problem Description

A search index is configured to index the content of two types (e.g. News and a dynamic content type). When an additional field is configured in the search index settings for a custom field of the dynamic content type, when the items are indexed the first item of the dynamic content type will not have the custom field value indexed. The rest of the items will have the custom field indexed.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a new dynamic content type 2. Add a custom field for the dynamic content type (e.g. short text field called "MyCustomField") 3. Create a new index and include the dynamic content type and one additional type, that is preceding the dynamic content type in the list of content types in the search index settings. (in order for the issue to be observed, the other content type must be indexed before the dynamic content type) 4. Add the custom field added in step 2 in the "Additional fields" of the search index. 5. Create a few items for both types and ensure to set custom field's value 6. Reindex the search index

Resolution

Until the fix is available, use the workaround below.

Workaround

1. Create a custom SearchIndexOutboundPipe and override the PushData method

        {

    }
}

2. Register the custom outbound pipe in the Global.asax

4. Reindex the search index

Notes

The amount of votes an item in the feedback portal has is taken into consideration when determining its priority. Vote for the item using the Like and Dislike buttons in the right-hand side menu to affect the priority it has. By casting a vote the voter will also be subscribed to a mailing list to receive notifications about changes of the item such as when it is fixed or implemented.
