Question/Problem Description

A .pf file with multiple database connections only takes the user for the last database.

Calling prowin32 -pf <filename.pf> -u <username> on a client side only shows username on the last database.

The first database connection succeed but is set as blank userid.

Steps to Reproduce

Clarifying Information

Client used a .pf file to connect to multiple databases.
The -U parameter is set at the command line.
Database connection works fine

When using Promon to check the username on the first database, is shown as blank and the last database shows the set username

Cause

This is expected behavior.

Resolution

Parameter file (-pf) is a static file, so it doesn't accept -U %Username% or %usr%.
A client with multiple database connections in a .pf file using a command line like:

prowin32 -pf <filename> -U <username>

will only show username connection for the last database in the .pf file because it is reading the parameter file (.pf) as a string. Therefore, the client is only accepting -U for the last database and the first databases are connected using blank user id.

Note - the first database is connected using blank user id is because the blank user id is not disabled in the database.

The option to solve the issue would be :
1. Specify -U username for each -db in your parameter file (.pf)
Example: -db <dbname1> -U <username>
-db <dbname2> -U <username>

Then call using prowin32 -pf <filename.pf>

2. Another option would be to have separate parameter file for each database connection and call using prowin32 -pf <filename.pf> -U <username> in the client side.
