Enhancements were made in service pack 5.3.4 with respect to compiling Decision Services

Starting release 5.3.4 is the ability to easily generate Decision Service (.eds) files with command line utilities. This allows the developer/user to create batch scripts or other build procedures to take the rule assets, and then compile them into deployable EDS files. In previous releases for 5.x, this needed to be done manually using the Corticon Deployment Console.

The utilities are included with both the Corticon Server for Java and the Corticon Server Archive.

For e.g.,
In 5.3.4 and 5.4.x, a user can use the utilities available in PROGRESS_CORTICON_5.3.4_DEPLOY_CONSOLE.zip within the Corticon Server Archive (PROGRESS_CORTICON_5.3.4_SERVER.zip) available on ESD/Download Center , to create EDS files which can be deployed to Corticon Server .NET or Java Server.

In 5.5.x up to version 7.0, a user can use the utilities available in PROGRESS_CORTICON_5.5.1_SERVER_UTILS.zip within the Corticon Server Archive (PROGRESS_CORTICON_5.5.1_SERVER.zip) available on ESD/Download Center, to create EDS files which can be deployed to Corticon Server .NET or Java Server.

In 7.1, a user can use the Utilities installer (e.g. PROGRESS_CORTICON_7.1_UTILITIES_WIN_64.exe, PROGRESS_CORTICON_7.1_UTILITIES_LNX_64.bin) available on ESD/Download Center, to create EDS files which can be deployed to Corticon Server .NET or Java Server. For more information about 7.1 installers, reference Corticon Installation Guide.

Silent compilation of multiple Decision Services:
Compiling Decision Services one by one through the manual steps of the several Corticon deployment tools can be prone to error. Using the Multiple Compilation feature, the user can define parameters for several Ruleflows, and then compile them by launching a simple script with no parameters. Logs specific to these compilations provide documentation of the activities.The essence of this feature is in the file multipleCompilation.xml.

The following excerpts show the required elements of a compilation object in the multipleCompilation.xml file

<MultipleCompilation>
        <CompilationLogDirectory>**Fully qualified path to directory where log will be placed**</CompilationLogDirectory>
	<CompilationObjects>
		<CompilationObject>
			<DecisionServiceName>**Name of the Decision Service**</DecisionServiceName>
			<RuleflowPath>**Explicit path to the Ruleflow to compile**</RuleflowPath>
			<OutputDirectory>**Explicit path to output directory for the .eds file**</OutputDirectory>
			<OverrideIfExists>**true/false: Determines whether to overwrite a matching file in the output directory**</OverrideIfExists>
			<DatabaseAccessMode>**empty value/R/RW: Determines if and how the Rules will be compiled for EDC compatibility**</DatabaseAccessMode>
		</CompilationObject>

		<CompilationObject>
		...
		</CompilationObject>
	</CompilationObjects>
</MultipleCompilation>

Once the compilation objects are defined and the Ruleflows are placed at their staging location, launching multipleCompilation.bat compiles each of the Ruleflows into its target Decision Service.
