Workshop in a Box: Developing with OpenEdge Architect

Workshop Description:
OpenEdge Architect is the new development environment designed for building business applications. In this beginner-level workshop, you will learn options on how to load your OpenEdge application(s) into the IDE and the key features and functionality to build and maintain them.  Developers and architects should come and see how the tools can enhance productivity. Attendees will configure an environment, import an existing application into that environment, and modify it using the toolset.

The workshop labs were built using a beta version of OpenEdge Architect 10.2A.  Most, if not all, of the lab instructions should work with the final Beta release.

This workshop will be updated for the commercial release of OpenEdge 10.2A and will be available through our Progress eLearning Community (PEC).

Materials:
Attached are zip files with the workbook created for the PSDN Live event and source code. Instructions are included on setting up the lab environment.

For software you need to have installed the official OpenEdge 10.2A, specifically OpenEdge Architect and Workgroup RDBMS.

  • For software you need to have installed the official OpenEdge 10.2A Beta image, specifically OpenEdge Architect and Workgroup RDBMS.As a last resort, contact Judy Rothermal for the VM Image used in the workshop delivery. The VM image cannot be distributed to partners or customers or left behind at their sites.  Any customer training that uses the workshop image must be delivered by a PSC resource and be removed from any hardware at the conclusion of the delivery.I'd guess that section needs a little update... 10.2A beta won't work anymore (unless you provide us with updated control codes) and I doubt that Judy will still be able to send along VMware images...
