Currency culture & resource culture [4.2.1650]]

  • Currency culture & resource culture [4.2.1650]]
  • I've noticed under settings > ecommerce > SupportedCurrencyConfig that EUR is coupled with de-DE culture.

This can be altered of course, but a currency culture shouldn't be locked down to one culture. Instead it should (preferably) left alone and use system culture, or otherwise be coupled to the site culture (resources > Default Culture Key).

If I set the culture under ecommerce to de-DE, a euro setup displays as 50,00 €
If I set the culture under ecommerce to nl-NL, a euro setup displays as € 50,00
If i set the culture under ecommerce to en-GB, a euro setup displays as £ 50.00
If I set the culture under ecommerce to en-US, a euro setup displays as $ 50.00

Not only does it completely override the fact that EUR is default currency, but even if we ignore the symbol, english/us customers have a different understanding of the . and the , so we need to be able to show prices in the customers culture.

A US customer expects to see € 50.00 and a German or Dutch customer expects € 50,00
(given the fact that the we're either on a single language version or standard front-end language is selected as English).

As an add-on to the previous post, orders seemed to be grouped/totalled by the currency culture.

I can understand that $ are seperate from € but changing the culture of a currency triggers somehow a different subtotal aswell...

  • Hey Kalina,

Well on behalf of all the British people, I'm glad I shared my two cents so euro's won't be displayed as pounds :)
    Have a great weekend!
