This has been on the list for years, but I will give you a specific use case so you can understand that not having this incurs additional downtime.
Dump and load processing looks like this:
As you can see the entire process for a small to midsized database is 5 hours. If Dbanalys was part of backup, 1 hour would be saved which is 20% less downtime.
I hope this tells you how important this feature is.
At this point in time we are not planning on implementing this feature. We will investigate how to decrease the dbanalysis run time. This would help alleviate the time needed.
Dbanalys is impossible without the scan of the free cluster chains. Dbanalys should keep in memory the list of these clusters during "Area Block Analysis" phase. On other hand backup does not scan the free cluster chains. It treats the blocks in these clusters as the real data rather than as the free blocks. Hence it can't do dbanalys.
As a matter of fact dbanalys is running in read-only mode but we can't use the -RO option with dbanalys. IMHO, it could help to save the time during D&L processing.
