A new install feature was introduced since the first
OpenEdge 11.7.1 Service Pack onward, where the Service Pack install media contains both the full OpenEdge product as well as the Service Pack content. As such, the 11.7 Service Pack download media are larger.
It is therefore possible to do a
full 11.7 OpenEdge install by only downloading and installing the 11.7.x Service Pack media, without having an existing installation already in place like previous versions require.
- When there are no OpenEdge 11.7 Licenses found, the Service Pack install will run the OpenEdge installer to install both the required 11.7 OpenEdge Licenses and the Service Pack content, reducing overall install times.
- When there are existing OpenEdge 11.7 Licenses found, the Service Pack install will run the OpenEdge installer to install only the changes that apply to the current licenses installed. In this light, there is no behavior change from previous OpenEdge SP installs.
Installing a full OpenEdge 11.7 version with the 11.7.4 or 11.7.5 Service Pack installer, there is an issue with library versions not being updated. Refer to the following Article for further details:
