The Shared Memory Version number can be obtained from a database through:
1. PROMON

3. Diagnosing Error 1178
Error 1178 results when the client connects to shared memory and database have different Major Minor versions:
The shared memory is version <num>; expected <num> (1178)
To correct the error the client version will need to be changed to match:
- The Database Major Minor version in order to connect self-service (single-user or shared-memory)
- The Database Major version or one Major version higher in order to connect client-server.
From the table below the Client and Database version can be determined from the Shared Memory value listed.
Shared Memory Versions:
- Not every Service Pack has a different shared memory version. For example, 10.2B01 through 10.2B03 have the same shared memory version - 12372.
- Hotfixes may have different shared memory versions than their parent Service Pack and are not included in the list.
- For 64-bit Progress OpenEdge licenses, the display format for shared memory version is: 64000000 + version specific number.
