There are no plans to certify 10.2B with later Java versions. Progress 10.2B was shipped with and remains certified with JVM 1.5 (32-bit / 64-bit).
While Java 1.5 is the highest version level supported with OpenEdge 10.2B, it can be upgraded to later minor releases of JDK 1.5 (Update 22) as we rely on their backward support to ensure this.
If the Progress embedded Java version is updated to a later Java version (1.6, 1.7, 1.8 etc), this will then be an
unsupported Progress environment and any consequent issues will first need to be reproduced against a Java 1.5 version.

OpenEdge 10.2B was moved to the Retired phase in March 2019, consider migrating to at least the OpenEdge 11.7 LTS update channel to be able to upgrade to Java 8, optionally use OpenJDK instead of Oracle Java and assure current security fixes in our product are up to date:
